Another
shocking and heartbroken incident took place in Mardan at Abdul wali khan university.
Mashal khan has been lynched and killed brutally by a mob in allegation of
Blasphemy without any evidence. I highly condemn the incident, may his soul rest
in peace and culprits should give appropriate punishment. But, here the story
is not over. Everyone is shouting to rescind or to amend the Blasphemy law in
order to control these type of crimes.
It is crystal
clear that most often, Blasphemy law is use to settle personal hostility by the
people. In this way rescission of the law is such a senseless and foolish act
because, it is not the solution of the matter. Misusing the law has become too
casual.
It is the
need of time to enforce laws and strict rules for those who misuse the law or
take the law in their hand unlawfully. We have to make it possible to penetrate
and implement the Blasphemy law in its real context in the society.
In these
cases media is also responsible to manipulate the things, creating violence and
propagating sense of hatred against Blasphemy law. It is also the high time for
our educational institutions to control intolerance, fanaticism and extremism
in students.
Blasphemy
law is not a murderous tool and it doesn’t need to be taken away. It is a tool
to control crime, hate speeches, violence, extremism and defamation against
sanctified personalities. In this way it is the tool to establish long term
peace in the society. It needs to implement in its real sense.
